Warm Orange was the unfortunate drink of choice at my old school football – today me lads get Jaffa Cakes at Half time ..the modern day twist …That is a Jaffa !!
Onion with an orange is actually one amazing ’salad’. You drizzle them with orange juice mixed with a tablespoon of honey, bit of fresh thyme and just a dash of culinary-quality lavender over the top. Red onions and blood oranges make it one spectacular dish. Lavender makes it come together like nothing you’ve ever tasted.

Glad to see your topping up your vitamin C ready for Saturday Mr H, so looking forward to it , sis an me driving over hope snow stays away so we get there.
Chocolate Orange any one……. yum ……
Sue, all my life I wanted a Terry’s chocolate orange. Would see them in the catalogues that came around Christmas time. Was fascinated by the idea of it. Then, as an adult, I bought 2 of them in a tin (still have the tin) and they were…..alright. How could they ever have lived up to years of expectation?
Is anyone else set in an Orange Eating Pattern i.e. you have one way you eat them and that’s it? I peel it with a knife, chop into pieces and eat from a bowl with a fork. My Great Aunt chops them in half and then eats with a spoon.
Here’s a weird thing. Nearly choked to death on an orange as a kid. Last year went for my regular visit to the chiropractor and had eaten 2 of them just before going there. He bloke asked me: What’s the choking hazard? He hadn’t even put a hand on me yet. Years later my body was still giving off the words choking hazard very strongly in reference to oranges – the body knows and remembers everything about itself.
Hey Pam. Yeah, that citrus salad is a great mid-winter break for the taste buds. And speaking of culinary topics, how did the photo go that featured your daughter in the newspaper? Culinary awards in schools is no easy thing by any means. You have to be very much beyond good.

Tex, regarding things culinary – Herb Alpert was quite a dish in his day, wasn’t he? . Have a couple of his things but NOT the Whipped Cream one – which is the one to have! You’ve made me go and put him on. The Lonely Bull is ringing out!
Ah, yes, ol’ Herb. And this tune was never that well known but it is a sultry little number… lemme get out my gold chain, Brut cologne and bear skin rug why don’t cha?
Taste of Honey cover. Sheyeeeah. Wow, right? Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah. Back to Herb this thyme…
My Dad loved a bit of Herb, Tex. Brings back memories of dancing around the lounge room with him. Those were the days! And you’re right TLH he wasn’t bad to look at! Happy day ladies!

tlh, I’m sure years ago I remember Terry’s used to make chocolate lemons too… although my friend has just told me I’m imagining that… I love chocolate but if orange flavoured was all there was I wouldn’t bother. Eugh. Coffee chocolate though, now you’re talking!
Sue, what flowers will you and your sister be sporting on Saturday?

Have you ladies considered wearing a white sport coat and a pink carnation?
You know the thought of a chocolate lemon doesn’t sound too bad at all – but it would be nice if if there was such a thing as lemon shaped chocolate shell and when you bit into it or cracked it open nice lemony flavoured Stuff sort of oozed out. I’d eat that. Would try anything once. Except tripe and just about all seafood. And asparagus and brussels sprouts. Have no interest in them whatsover; there’s no chocolate involved. If the urge for the chocolate orange taste hits these satisfy it:
I was the half time orange cutter upper and disher out at my local football team got a thank you mention in the local rag that was the start of my one hour of fame ha!

Loverly fresh squeezed orange juice with ice always a nice way to end a hard slog in the garden. Was thinking bout starting my vegie patch but took one look out the back & went Nahhhhhhhh looks like a dessert out there atm with no prospects of anything even remotely growing cept weeds in winter which is quite sad as I do love home grown vegies.
Hi Tex, dear daughter didn’t appear in the newspaper on that occasion, though many of her friends did! It’s their school chef who’s won the award – he’s served up shark, zebra stakes, kangaroo and python apparently, though not being the world’s greatest meat eaters Molly declines:) Her legs were last seen dangling in a photo on a school noticeboard behind a local TV news presenter in her report and she ’should’ be in The Times this Friday.
I used to mix orange juice and coke – called it mud. Tasty.
Orange juice and coke. Dang, that’s sounds cool! During the warmer months I like lemonade and iced tea. Called an ‘Arnold Palmer’ thanks to the golf lovers out there.
