Let’s put Dalai Lama’s words to work for him then: “If I wish to experience peace with my neighbour, I provide peace for my neighbour.” Or simply, “To experience peace with China, I provide peace for China.”
Thank you Von. I’m just following the sun. He’s a great tour guide!
Outside is very peaceful at this time of morning – just the early twitterings
of the birdies and the pitter patter of the fox that lives at the bottom of the garden
Does anyone else get that feeling before something happens? e.g. with Haiti for me it was simply feeling of Something Big Is Going To Happen. Then it happens and you think: There it is. There is an energy that can be felt. It’s global. I say if we want to have peace Be Peace -and peaceable and honest – that is an energy that can also be felt. Others around us feel it as it ripples out from us. Every time we are petty or get too much change at the supermarket and don’t return it or cheat the taxman or yell at people on the road or any of the things that we think don’t matter we create negative energy and put it out there and fight against the very thing we say we want. I would like to point out that the only thing from that list I am guilty of is being petty
Enjoyed that Tom Petty song, haven’t heard it in awhile. Was just remembering he’s from the same rather small, offbeat town in Florida called Gainsville where actor William H. Macy also grew up. By the same token, director Wes Andersen grew up a 3 blocks away from here. Hmmm. What does it all mean, I wonder? From a sociological point of view, I have always been endlessly intrigued by how environment (and to what degree) can influence personality and outlook. Anyway, just a Saturday morning musing. Party on guys…

I’m nowhere near as petty as Tom; no one could be that petty. That song is a favourite. I think Tom’s Full Moon Fever is a most enjoyable record indeed. No wonder with Jeff Lynne all over it and helping write a lot of it. All the good ones, anyway . I’m waiting for this video to load at the moment and have never seen it before – only the very start of it just now and am pleased as all get out with who is in it
It’s Sunday morning here Tex and so late/early that the mind can’t process about environment influencing things. Might have to think about that in the environment of bed.
Heading for the Mexican border, greasy Dairy Queen chicken finger basket, fading AM radio reception, blinking neon motel sign, miles of sky. And a classic American road song…
Yee har, Elissa! And guess what? We don’t need no stinking badges! (Sorry, shameless movie quote snipe from the 1948 Bogart film, ‘The Treasures of Sierra Madre’. But you already knew that…)

Tex, now I’m thinking about Charleton Heston and dirty stinking apes. I guess there are worse things than thinking about Charleton Heston…
Ended up listening to Bailero (I don’t know how to get the little thingos over the word) 5 or 6 times until my son must have become sick of it and next thing I heard the song You’re So Strong by Mental as Anything coming loudly from the loungeroom stereo . The two together was a bit of an unusual combination. Interesting, though. Different. I can’t find a proper version of You’re So Strong so here is Date With Destiny instead. It’s a much better song anyway.

Kate, my reaction when that song very first started was to get the giggles because of what that bloke (in hat) was doing with his voice – it sounded so unusual to me – and then I listened to it a couple of times and then the song grew. Ones that grow are good. It has clearly grown on Helen. Any more sightings of Patrick Duffy?
Tex, I really like this one from Chaos and Creation as well. Someone said to me recently that they thought Paul McCartney hadn’t written a decent song since 1969. It’s not true! I like the way he says Laff in in it. Such an old Pom, he is.

I’m very put out today. I put this picture up somewhere last night and it’s been suggested this morning that this man looks as though he has..ummm…areas that would more likely be found on a woman. Now I can’t think of him in the same way

Nick this picture is perfect, it reminds me of the small country town I used to live in(no more than 2000 ppl), getting up early to start work, letting the goats out & the chooks(chickens as some common folk call them lol) then walking the 10 minutes to work at the local school, summer mornings was always my favourite time, nice crispy mornings but scorching hot by lunch, kids would go to school in their winter uniform then come home at lunch time to change to their summer uniform. How I miss the tranquility

I could so pack up my house & kids right now & move there with no questions asked & you wouldnt have to ask me twice as Id be there quicker than you could say “Jack Be Nimble”, I hate the city, to fast but as Ive been told “You can take the girl outta the country but not the country outta the girl”

Tex, I only said that about McCartney because he is one . Sort of a fitting comment on a website run by an…a disgustingly young and fit looking person, especially a peace taker . Old Pom just seems to Go in the way that e.g Old Yank or Old Aussie Doesn’t. It is an affectionate thing, I think, and is not intended to offend anyone. Actually, I think if someone said: Oh that old Aussie ******* (Mystery Word) – that would have more of the same tone about it. Then there are the Irish – the old Fureys

A lovely man I met once said “If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.” it was the Dalai Lama.
Beautiful photo Nick as always you have many talents!
Something. about it looks just like the happy ending you’d see in a movie.

You noticed that too, huh? Yeah, I think they do it just to remind us they are here by virtue of pure unadulterated irritation.
