cinzano on the rocks! what a loverly drop after a hard days work in the garden or tidying up my 2 youngests room( need something stronger for that job I think lol)
Swans. Elegant yet slightly menacing creatures being as I always heard as a kid they had the strength to break an arm and therefore always kept a very respectful distance. Have since learned of their other qualities and am more in awe of them than frightened these days.
Got a black globe from the 30’s where Thailand is still Siam. Helps me to keep everything in perspective knowing I’m not even a speck, really, on that big thing and how far (or seemingly not far at all) some of these distances are.
Btw, I see the reflection of a little Macintosh apple out of the corner of my eye there in the window…
I’ll have to get Graham to take a look at that clip Nick. We had a fabulous trip to Duxford last year. I was prepared for a boring day and was flabbergasted when I arrived.
Graham went back a few months later and took his Dad for a Father’s Day treat.
Vroom vroom.
Saw David Lean’s ‘The Sound Barrier’ on the big screen here recently. Talk about One. Amazing. Film. Can’t remember the last time an audience clapped so enthusiastically for the ending of a film!
The world is at your feet, a road so well travelled,
I settle in the seat I wish to stay.
And nestled in my happiness
I see a life before me,
That shines with all the memories I made along the way.
Above the planes are taking to far away places,
The Journey of the car, a like a million tiny ants.
While I am here silent, and breath the peaceful moments,
And melt into this gentle time of life.
Nice Lightning. I’m sure they have one in Duxford. The best museum I’ve ever been to. They don’t do things by halves. They’ve got B52s suspended over F-111 swing-wings, a Blackbird, Superfortresses, etc etc.
hmm? new to this site, lost with some of the banter but have loved Nick for far too long. Cinzano.. now that takes me back..! Always love swans though, who wouldnt and add in a balcony and.. well its just too magical…

My goodness, I think it’s off to the bottle-o in search of Cinzano. It is the fountain of youth. It clearly contains magical anti-aging properties – Joan Collins hasn’t changed in these 30 years .
Mel, I saw someone riding a big pink and purple swan during the Christmas holidays – no, too much Cinzano wasn’t involved – it was a blow up one in a swimming pool – Marc Bolan was nowhere to be seen.
Was tickled by: “Want to be the intelligence behind the radar that feeds the brain that guides the missile” – all so serious and yet accompanied by groovy music.
lonehydrangea. ahahahaha…
Yeah, that ‘wanting to be the intelligence’ part had me on the floor. And somebody wrote the same in the comments. Was so classic, I had to blow it up and give it it’s own special corner on my desktop. The music was the best too, you caught that right, guurl.
…BUT I was more than slightly miffed at what someone wrote in the comments on the clip I posted with the Supermarine (I only noticed it later but apparently it’s design did not succeed despite it’s starring role in Lean’s film…). Sad, really because even nowadays that is one ultra sleek-looking aircraft. Anyway… probably put you to sleep on that one…

Oh so they did! And there I was with my little notepad writing it down so I wouldn’t forget! haha. It’s so funny to think that someone wrote the words. How could the man read them without cracking up! You mean you were miffed about so little delivery? What was needed was a brain to guide the missile
Here, for the sake of being informed about weird, diverse stuff just in case you are ever on a game show or something, let me bore you some more with the subject of aircraft design, something I learned from a pilot-trainer friend based out of Canberra that actually flew these beasts. The days of beautiful aircraft design are over. They call it ‘fly-by-wire’ now and the reality is here. Basically, the idea behind it is if you have enough (christ, there is no other word but I know I’m gonna get it for writing it..duck! incoming!) thrust you can make even a ton of bricks fly.

A place for everything and everything in it’s place

Yeah, that Cinzano ad… Who knew the British could be so..so…so suggestive? Or maybe they weren’t trying to be and I just exposed myself…. Ha!
This is a swanderful photo? Do you feed your elegant visitors Nick?
Sorry, 1 too many question marks there. Please ignore the first one!
My mum got me a illuminated globe for my 21 st birthday, it means the world to me , ta da:-)
P-ha! Gary, Gary, Gary…

Took me right back to my nerdy childhood.
I live very near to Duxford but take it for granted, I should go very soon!!
It’s really impressive Denise
