..that reminds me of soemthing un realted to egos but that still brings a smile to my face.. ( might have had to have been there tho so it might not be funny written down..but here goes)…
I had a speed boat.. ‘de profundus’… we were taking uit out and was laughing it from down brighton way.. we had two friends with us that were NOT seafarers
You have to log ( for you own safety) the time you think you will be due back with the harbour master..
SO…We went in to the little office and the Harbour Master said (in a local East Sussex accent)” ‘ere, it will be blowing four ‘t five out there”.. to which my friend replied… “oh dont worry we will be back before then”!!!! hahahahahahah! :D :D

Kinda can’t help but defend what might come across like ego in the clips posted here.
For myself, yesterday I just woke up, was inspired by the photo of the sun over the laurel hedge, the flurry of pink rose petals from the previous posts. Combined with the music, information and visuals posted by everyone here, the inspiration to be found is just limitless. I looked out the window at a very rainy, very dreary day on this end and thought, “What can I find that would reflect what I’ve been inspired by here?” and I thought instantly of Mitzi Gaynor. She looks so young and so beautiful -a hard-working professional in the full bloom of her career. Her moves are so fluid, she looks like a swirling rose petal herself. She seems the epitome of elegance and refinement of another time, plus she looks like she’s having a great time. And yes, I want to be her! The energy she radiates in that performance gives me an indescribable something, not to mention the color injection and production of the film itself and all the hard work that went into bringing it to fruition. The film clip was just something I felt compelled to post and share and was only hoping to pass on the same wonderful feeling that was passed on to me, that’s all.

Tex, Mitzi Gaynor makes me of think of Gene Kelly and that is quite a pleasant association. There are worse things to think about than Gene, no doubt :) . The mention on this day makes the mind go Gene Kelly –> Paul Kelly –> From Little Things Big Things Grow. Lovely harmonica.

    Well said Deb.

Doesn’t feel right blabbering on while you’re not about.
It feels like I’m sitting in your house while you’re out – which obviously wouldn’t be right at all …

    ;)

This has nothing to do with anything -kids are the best. This was someone’s FB status -it might give someone else a smile as well:

“my 4 year old son walked into the kitchen last night and saw his shadow on the wall. “Ah,we meet again”, he said. Then he proceed to show the shadow his “karate” moves. This included him punching the wall. Other than hurting his hand, it was very, very funny.”

Can’t wait to say “Ah, we meet again” to my shadow next time I see it.

If we were sitting in his house I’d go in and surreptiously remove the birdy windows.

  21. thelonehydrangea on 9th March 2010 at 11:33 pm permalink

That doesn’t make sense -pretend the In isn’t there. Surreptitiously.

  22. Helen on 9th March 2010 at 11:37 pm permalink

Oh, I would never remove anything… but I might do the ironing.

    Off to bed.

    Night all :)

    btw… love this song

You would remove the creases :D . I did steal something once, actually. It has pricked my conscience ever since. It was a little 20 cent plastic orange car when I was 4. I had it in my hand and walked out of the shop with it, hoping that Mr Hasler, the shop keeper, wouldn’t notice. I hid the car under a lounge cushion at my Grandma’s place so no one would see it. Couldn’t even enjoy playing with it. Lesson learned :)

  24. Tex on 10th March 2010 at 1:54 am permalink

Couldn’t enjoy playing with your stolen toy anymore, eh? Obviously you’ve never experience the joy of growing up around people from war-torn Europe. They don’t have such puritanical hangups. If it ain’t nailed down, it’s theirs! ehehe.. ; )

  25. Tex on 10th March 2010 at 2:09 am permalink

Anyway, where was I going with this earlier thought, this photosynthesis, this interconnectedness and influence of all people, all experiences and all things? Ah, yes.. So we’ve got our host who use to be a commercial artist from what I gather. Then we’ve got Helen’s love of hardware, maybe even set-design? Deb works at the finest jazz joint in London while Andrew plays Glenn Miller and features a rather violent splash of red at the beginning of that one crazy video. Given that, he might even be the choreographer. And lonehydrangea mentions Gene Kelly. Given her personality as it comes across online, she might even be the little wiggle at the jukebox. Okay, so throw it all together and here’s what you get!

And ditzy? Naaah. Think of free association as mental freedom with the leash tossed aside.
